Secret Entrance Into A Large Zinc Mine

Bill and I found a back entrance into a local zinc mine. It's a TIGHT fit but we squeeze through. We are rewarded with a great afternoon of exploring. As always there are scary ladders, a bit of hand-over-hand rope descending, and a lot of rail still left in place. This is the first mine I've visited that has three levels that all cross at the same point. Tracks above, tracks below, tracks everywhere!

If you want to dig a bit deeper, here are my websites that you may want to visit.

http://www.mine-explorer.com – Lots of pictures and commentary on mines across the southwest that we have explored. If you like underground, don’t miss this.

http://www.desert-dawg.com - This is my website where I blogged the building of the Desert Dawg. You can get an in-depth insight into what it took to build the trailer. I don’t hide my screw-ups because I don’t want others to make the same mistakes.
