A day after the judge in the George Floyd trial stated that Maxine Water's comments may get the trial overturned on appeal, Jacob Frey, the Mayor of Minneapolis stated "Regardless of the decision made by the jury, there is one true reality which is that George Floyd was killed at the hands of police."

Jacob Lawrence Frey is the mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, he served on the Minneapolis City Council from 2013 until his election as mayor. Elected mayor in 2017, he was sworn in on January 2, 2018.
