"Amhrán na bhFiann" ("The Soldier's Song") is Ireland's national anthem, adopted in 1926. The music was composed by Peadar Kearney and Patrick Heeney in 1910, the original English lyrics by Kearney, and the Irish-language translation, now usually the version heard, by Liam Ó Rinn. The song has three verses, but only the choral refrain is used as the national anthem.

(English Lyrics)
Chorus:
Soldiers are we
whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come
from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free,
No more our ancient sire land
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the gap of danger
In Erin’s cause, come woe or weal
’Mid cannons’ roar and rifles peal,
We’ll chant a soldier’s song.

(Irish Lyrics / Liricí as Gaeilge)
Curfá:
Sinne Fianna Fáil,
atá fé gheall ag Éirinn,
Buíon dár slua
thar toinn do ráinig chugainn,
Faoi mhóid bheith saor
Seantír ár sinsear feasta,
Ní fhágfar fén tíorán ná fén tráill.
Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil,
Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil,
Le gunna-scréach fé lámhach na bpiléar,
Seo libh canaig' Amhrán na bhFiann.
