Hope and Tragedy of Easter Island

Rapa Nui or Easter Island is one of the most remote islands in the Pacific Ocean. Although a vastly deforested and desolate landmark, it is stained by a dark human history of exploitation, warfare, foreign invasion and political interference since the unexpected arrival of European settlers.

If only the Polynesian people had a crystal ball and saw a glimpse into their future, a future brought on by an unexpected turn of events that has led to their downfall.
