how to figure out what you're good at

When trying to figure out the things we're good at...and of course, this is crucial for doing work we enjoy and building a fulfilling online business for ourselves...very often we struggle.

That's because the things that we're good at, that we're interested in, that we're drawn to, are a part of our regular, normal daily lives. We're biased in a sense...because they're "normal" for us...even though they might be unique, special, or highly valuable to others.

This is why it's so important to seek trusted exterior help if need be. Others who you trust can look at you objectively and provide you with honest feedback.

I'll give you an example. For whatever reason, and I don't know why, my brain segments and compartmentalizes information. It's automatically sorting and sequencing things. I don't know why...it's just how it's always been.

And because this was a "normal" and "regular" way for me to look at situations, issues, and topics, I didn't think much of it. That was until one day a long time ago when my Dad and I were standing in a parking lot trying to solve a complex problem. I can't even remember what it was.

My dad turned to me and asked, "Well what do you think -- what are our options?" Without hesitation, I said, "Well, we can do this, that, or this other thing...unless I've missed something." He replied, "Well, I guess that about covers it." We briefly discussed each option and made our decision.

Later on, he asked me how I did that. "Did what?" I asked. "How did you summarize those options so clearly?" "I dunno. As we were talking, they just formed in my head as the most logical options." "Huh," he said as his eyes trailed off.

That's when I started to realize that this sorting and compartmentalizing (really, I'm not mental!) that came naturally to me could be of great value to others.

And again, this is vitally important for you to figure out...so that you can do fulfilling work and building a business that you enjoy working in and on. So when friends, family, or even strangers say, "How'd you do that?" pay attention!
