Hiking the Pioneer Loop Trail at Cumberland Mountain State Park

The Pioneer Loop Trail is approximately 4.5 miles and loops the Byrd Lake that was created by the CCC dam. There are tons of things to see along the trail including a suspension bridge and several rock outcroppings. You’ll also pass through the park’s version of the “fat man squeeze.”
