African Grey Parrots

The African grey parrot is the most intelligent of all the parrot species. It has an exceptional ability to reason and the talent to correctly mimic words and phrases. It is native to the equatorial regions of Africa, including the nations of Congo, Cameroons, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Kenya. They have been used as pets for thousands of years, as long as in biblical times. African Grey Parrots (Psittacus erithacus) often join forest elephants in clearings in Central Africa where they are attracted to scarce minerals available in the environment.
