Dead Call of Duty: Warzone players come back as zombies

With Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 on the horizon (all signs point to some sort of nuclear event kicking off next week), Verdansk's zombie problem is reaching a boiling point. After an update this morning, Toxic Zones now turn players into zombies when they die.

I know because it happened to me. When you zoom in on the shipwreck and prison areas on the map, red zones marked with a nuclear symbol will appear. You can also see where these areas of the world begin from white flecks that fill the air in the affected areas. If you set foot in a zone, you will deal damage as if you were outside the normal circle, and if you die while in the zone, you will immediately respawn as a zombie with unique powers. As far as I know, you have the skills from last year's Haunting of Verdansk zombie-themed Halloween event.

The only problem is this doesn't work in Solos - you need live teammates to be eligible for a zombie respawn. As a zombie you can attack with melee, super jump to what feels like 100 meters at a time, deploy gas grenades and activate an EMP around you during a cooldown. It's quite fun! But I'm not sure if there is a good strategic reason to choose zombification at this point. First, you are very soft and relatively easy to kill for an opponent with real weapons. If you become a zombie, you also skip your gulag attempt, so if you die again, you must be bought back by a teammate.
