Still feeling the effects from the night before I climbed into turboprop regional airplane in Central Wisconsin knowing that there would be two more stops yet before I arrived in Chicago.

I might have only made it a couple of minutes before I was out like a light.

The next thing I remember was, my seatbelt keeping me from bouncing off the bulkhead above and into the window aside me.

I peered out as I grabbed hold of the seat ahead of me just in time to see a blinding flash of light from outside the planes hull. Kerboom!!!

We were in the middle of a thunderstorm.

With the door wide open to the cockpit I looked there and saw the copilot doing everything in his power to keep the plane from being jostled around like a feather in the wind. …again Kerboom!!!

Just then a calm and collective voice came over the intercom and spoke briefly these words as I remember them. Please prepare for landing and remain seated and seat belted in until the plane has come to a complete stop. We should be on the ground in Appleton shortly…

Weather should never replace the day’s goals you have set. Even in the darkest moment of the storm there is light ahead… #dbrn
