Habitat: The bullfinch lives in forests with dense undergrowth, and can also be found in gardens and parks in cities (especially during migrations). In summer, the bird lives both in dense forests and in sparsely wooded areas, but it is rarely noticed. In winter, flocks of bullfinches are very clearly visible, as well as individual birds on the leafless trees of the park on a snow-white background. In male bullfinches, the breast is pinkish-red, in females-brownish-gray. The bullfinch is mainly a sedentary bird, completely migrates for the winter only from the northern taiga, on nomads it is found up to Central Asia and Eastern China.

Bullfinch feeds on seeds, buds, some arachnids and berries (in particular, mountain ash). Feeding on berries, it eats the seeds out of them, leaving the pulp. The chicks are fed mainly with plant food, adding insects and berries.

It breeds in coniferous and mixed forests, preferring areas with a predominance of spruce. In Russia, the breeding population of the common bullfinch is maximum in spruce forests tied to river valleys; minimum-in pine forests.
