A great horned owl puppet is an important tool Salthaven team are using to help feed owlet that was blown out of his nest high up in a pine tree. If the owlet imprints on humans, it has a much harder time learning survival skills or assimilating with its species. The puppet helps keep that from happening.

An animal learns what species it is by imprinting, but birds don't automatically know that when they hatch. They have to visually imprint on their parents to identify with their species.

Normally this little guy has quite a good appetite, although he's being a little fussy here.
