The Man Who Was Caught On Tape Attacking A 65-Year-Old Asian Woman Has Been Arrested.
Police Say, 38 Year Old Brandon Elliot Has Been Charged With Felony Assault As A Hate Crime For His Anti-Asian Attack Near New York City’s Times Square.

The Attack Happened Late Monday Morning Outside A Luxury Apartment Building. Police Say Elliot Approached The Woman, Kicked Her In The Stomach, Knocked Her To The Ground, And Continued To Attack The Woman - All While Yelling Anti-Asian Slurs.

The Building’s Management Company Said The Two Workers Inside The Building -Who Appeared To Be Security Guards Witnessing The Attack- But Failed To Come To The Woman’s Aid - Were Suspended Pending An Investigation.

Elliot Was Convicted Of Stabbing His Mother To Death In 2002 When He Was 19. He Was Released From Prison In 2019 And Is On Lifetime Parole.

He Faces Charges Of Assault As A Hate Crime, And Attempted Assault As A Hate Crime.

The Victim, Vilma Kari, An Immigrant From The Philippines Was Released From The Hospital Tuesday After Being Treated For Serious Injuries.
