How to diagnose a right hip joint dislocation in this Yorkshire Terrier who is lame in the right hind leg? I extended both hip joints. The right hind limb is shorter than the left, showing the luxation of the hip joint. X-rays of the hip showed sub-luxation of the right femoral joint.
The dog should recover over time as the dislocation is not severe. Hence there is no need for treatment. The dog must be confined for 2-4 weeks to prevent further injury to the hip joint. No further lameness after resting for 4 weeks.
