“The Colorado State University student whose April 2017 arrest outside a Fort Collins bar was captured on video and went internationally viral is appealing her criminal convictions and suing Fort Collins police on allegations of excessive force.

Michaella Surat, 24, was found guilty of misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest in August after her first ended in a mistrial. She was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and 48 hours of community service.”
