In the Studio Session #1 Sax & Formulas of Pop

This week I’m bringing you guys into the recording studio to check out what I’ve been up to. I’ve been trying to challenge myself in the studio lately. So, I took inspiration from Fat Domino’s “Blueberry Hill”, which recently entered the public domain, and tried to rework it focusing on three categories: lead instrument, palette, and chords.

The idea came to me after listening to The Car’s “Just What I Needed” and I could hear the same chord progression heard in Pachabel’s famous “Canon.” It got me thinking about how symmetry and chord structure can impact a piece of music and create an almost mathematical formula for a catchy tune. What do you guys think?
