Amazing video footage of the descent and landing of the United States' NASA Perseverance Rover onto the surface of Mars

The following footage in this video comes directly from the lander and rover and was captured on Feb. 18, 2021 during the landing of NASA's Perseverance Rover on Mars in the Jezero Crater. The video was recorded by several cameras that are part of the rover's entry, descent, and landing instrumentation.

Jezero Crater (28 miles/45 kilometers wide) is located on the western edge of Isidis Planitia, a giant impact basin just north of the Martian equator. 3.5 billion years ago the crater had its own river delta and was filled with water, and may therefore contain fossil evidence of ancient life on Mars.
