U.S. Marines and Sailors with 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade stand in a formation alongside Camp Courtney base services employees during a moment of silence honoring the 10th anniversary of Operation Tomodachi on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, March 11, 2021. Operation Tomodachi was the U.S. response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami that hit mainland Japan in 2011, which prompted a joint response from U.S. forces across the Indo-Pacific. The 3rd MEB operated out of Sendai in support of the Japan Self-Defense Force to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to our Japanese allies. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt.
