Learning to use rubbing alcohol to texture watercolor: the secret I discovered

For this goldfish portrait I used rubbing alcohol to texture the background, but things didn't exactly go according to plan. Watch the video to see what I discovered during my experiments.

For this painting I used 140 lb/300 g cold press watercolor paper, Daniel Smith watercolors: ultramarine blue, phtalo blue, cobal purple deep, lemon yellow, new gamboge
Holbein watercolors: scarlet lake, mineral violet
Stephen Quiller watercolors: permanent orange
M.Graham artist gouache - Titanium White
Round and flat brushes for water media
