Rock Island State Park Campground Tour

Rock Island State Park has two campgrounds with one being tent only. The main campground here has 50 sites all with 20, 30 and 50 amp service along with water. They all also have fire rings and metal picnic tables that are set on a concrete pad.

Sites 1-4 and 31-34 have sewer. WiFi is good throughout the campground and we had fair Verizon signal for calls/texts in the camp. There are 2 bath houses that were kept clean and a centrally located pavilion and playground.

Firewood was available at the visitor center for $6 a bundle but the chunks are small. The bonus was there’s more downed wood in the park than you can possibly gather.

Parking seemed to be an issue throughout the campground and the rangers didn’t seem to enforce any restrictions as several of the sites had 3-5 cars around. If you’re pulling a larger unit and people are parked in the cul de sac areas you’re probably going to have to get people to move to make your turn around.

Overall the campground was quiet and accommodating for our purposes but I wouldn’t recommend any overly large units.
