Paris! The Making of an Art Show
Now, here I am in Paris being driven around looking for Porte de Versailles Pavilion where the art exposition was to occur the next day. So I guess the paintings did ARRIVE IN PARIS!!! But I still have to deliver them to Galeria Gaudi to be even part of the show! And we are lost!
Many have asked me what it is like to be worldwide or international. This I have to say...
As of this writing, I have already been a WORLDWIDE FINE ARTIST for two years. My agents are both in the United States and Spain but most of my art shows are in Europe. Thus I have been shipping to Spain for the past two years.
Several factors are to be considered to be a worldwide artist. First, there has to be dedication because once the decision is made to me one, many needs/requirements need to be met. Secondly, you should have a big body of work so that you can show both locally and internationally. Thirdly, you have to look and handle your art as a business because it requires a degree of financial investment and shipping is one of them. Fourth, one has to evaluate the organizational skills, the direction, the targeted market, and dedication of your chosen agent because if all answers to these issues are positive and/or strong then half of your dilemmas as an international artist is solved. Fifth, you have to understand the culture of the country you are shipping to. Organizational skills of countries differ and this will dictate the ease or difficulty at shipping. Sixth, be ready for language barriers! Seventh and last, have a very open mind when delving into this business. When difficulties come, you have to learn to go with the flow and be quick and creative. Having this mindset sets you up to being very flexible with every unwanted and surprise turns or challenges.
So now...check out the joys, or rather the difficulties shown in my short film "PARIS! The Making of the Show! Episode 2: DID THE PAINTINGS ARRIVE IN PARIS?"
