The greatest tragedy I believe is for someone to spend their life doing good works and expecting them to secure his salvation. The Bible is clear that salvation comes only by believing in Jesus Christ.
Read John 3:16, John 6:29, Romans 3:21-22 and Ephesians 2:8-9
