The Root of the Covid Relief Reparations to Black Farmers

The recent Covid relief bill included $5 billion in dedicated funding to black farmers out of $10 billion for farmers overall even though black farmers make up less than five percent of US farmers. Some for and against this provision claimed it was reparations. The neoliberals and institutions, though, who believe in reparations if it will keep black people happy and continuing to vote for the neoliberal regime claim it's not reparations --- that it's just making up for the lack of sufficient settlements to black farmers who were discriminated against by the USDA.

So, did the USDA really discriminate against farmers because they were black in the late 1900s? The Right Take guys discuss a New York Times article on this subject published back when it was a real newspaper and did real objective journalism.
