Amish Chicken

This video is a dish called "Amish Chicken." A friend from church, Melina Thorton, posted this recipe on a Facebook group - and I thought instantly " this is going to be good." And I sure was right. I did change the recipe a bit - because it calls for Chicken with the skin on - and we typically try to use boneless, skinless Chicken Breasts - it is a bit more healthy. Then, I add the Heavy Whipping Cream - and "so much for healthy," lol.

So, I started with a package of Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts, and cut them in have - so they aren't so thick. Then I mix up the dry ingredients, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Paprika, and Flour - and I dredge the Chicken in the Flour mixture and lay into 2 - 13 x 9 glass pans. Then I mix 3 cups water with 3 cups Heavy Whipping Cream and pour over the Chicken in the 2 pans. I baked it in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours.

I also peeled and cooked potatoes for some homemade Mashed Potatoes. The Amish Chicken makes its own sort of Gravy - so no need to make any Gravy. I added some Whole Kernel Corn as a side dish - it was a big hit with the family - definitely a "keeper."

Thank you Melina for sharing that recipe. Also, thank you to my grandson, Gunner, for helping me with the video.
