Spot on Wednesday 3-17-21

On this day the most celebrated Christian day globally, Saint Patrick’s Day in 1977 my good friend Patrick T. McGivern and I had set out on this day of all days to drink a green beer in every bar from Schofield to Wausau.

Grand Ave. was the main drag back then and as memory serves me I had lost count of how many taverns we had been into and how many mugs we tossed back as we ended up at the Hiawatha Lounge across from the ol’ Wausau Rail Station stop right next to the apartment I shared with another Irishman Brian Unmuth.

In the following close in weeks to come, our lives would take us on new adventures half way around the world and back remaining lifelong friends with tons of stories to be shared.

Both of the brothers are gone now, taken far too early from the patch of dirt called earth but the memories will never be forgotten for the Irish live life with the wind at there backs.
