Deer Finds a Snack in the Hurricane Delta Aftermath
Occurred on October 12, 2020 / Mamou, Louisiana, USA
Info from Licensor: "I feed deer all year long. This is a button buck feeding after Hurricane Delta flooded my deer lease. The deer lease is approx. 8 miles west of Mamou, La. Bayou Nezpique is a cypress bayou responsible for the flooding. From the ground to the feeding nozzle is approx. 42 inches. This gives you an idea on high the water gets. The feeder holds approx. 350 lbs. of corn. The deer, raccoons, birds, etc., usually take about 12 days to empty the feeder. I feed the deer w/corn because it encourages antler growth. Food is hard to come by for these animals during winter. Their diet consists mostly of bark, twigs, etc. during the winter months. I use game cameras to catch the action at the feeders. There's always something interesting going on with the woodland animals."
