The effect is better with more powerful magnets.
However getting accurate measurements is difficult because these magnets are so powerful that they are attracted to ferrous things even several feet away so care was taken to observe the boat staying still for several minutes without the reaction wheel turning.
Seems to be that the things to assess are the size of the arc the boat turns, the timing of turning on and off the reaction wheel and the power of the reaction wheel to quickly move the part of the boat with the magnet to point east.
