Barefoot Is Legal (http://www.barefootislegal.org) shares a Doodly video for the upcoming #IDidItBarefootChallenge event March 26-28, 2021.

The #IDidItBarefootChallenge encourages everyone to go barefoot at least once during the 3 day weekend. We want to raise awareness of our mission and promote freedom.
Most people do not know the background behind the famous signs that everyone quotes. Up until the mid 1960s, businesses were legally allowed to discriminate against gays, blacks, Sikhs, & others. Thanks to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that all ended. Some businesses closed over having to sell to minorities. Others noticed that minorities & the "hippies" (Whom businesses hated due to the anti-American act of boycotting the Vietnam War) went barefoot in warm weather. As a way to legally discriminate against them, businesses put up a "no bare feet" sign. As a way to push the reason away from them over discrimination - and to enforce compliance - business management pushed the ideas that it was against the health department, insurance companies, or even state law. None of which were ever true for customers. But, the myth worked. People stopped going barefoot for fear they would not get to buy & sell or get yelled at.
People by nature hate wearing shoes all the time. Flip flops are the most worn shoe. Why? It is because people WANT the freedom to go barefoot if they choose, and they believe it is now illegal. So, the flip flop, the absolute least amount of fabric to wear on your feet, are worn by the billions when the weather is warm enough.
Our challenge shares the background behind the signs, and encourages everyone to go to at least 1 store barefoot during this weekend. Take a selfie, group picture or video while you shop in a business barefoot. Upload it & add the hashtag #IDidItBarefootChallenge. You will be inspiring others for social change and can share about the origin of these famous signs.
