Marine Corps Installations Pacific - Marine Corps Base Camp Butler honors and remembers the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief of Operation Tomodachi. The Tohoku Earthquake hit off the coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, triggering a tsunami that reached heights up to 130 feet and traveled six miles inland. It was the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan. Following the disaster, Japan and it's foreign nation allies began the long journey toward recovery.
