Is Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter a victim of race card politics?

Just over a year into the thankless task of reforming the corrupt, inept patronage machine that is the national monopoly electricity provider Eskom, Andre de Ruyter has come under attack by suspended Eskom chief procurement officer Solly Tshitangano who accused him of "racism" in "favoring white suppliers over black suppliers."

Two large labor unions (NUMSA & NUM) have called the announced Eskom probe insufficient and a coverup, laying unsubstantiated allegations about terminated black engineers and attributing purported wage rate disparities to racism.

Frankly, the endless resort to the race game is beyond outdated. Unfortunately, in South Africa, Western Europe and North America, far to many people incapable to critical thinking all too easily fall for the game.

Best of luck to Mr. de Ruyter and Eskom in dealing with the racist inspired slander of his behavior and character.

  • Solly Tshitangano accused him of "racism" in "favouring white suppliers over black suppliers." What this actually means is He's giving contracts to legit companies and not ones that charge R238.000 for a wooden broom, R80.000 for One Knee pad, and R56 for a bottle of milk...
