The asteroid is expected to come within 1.25 million miles of Earth. An asteroid as big as the Golden Gate Bridge is expected to pass Earth ahead of the first day of spring. The asteroid, classified by NASA as 231937 (2001 FO32), is about 0.5 to 1 mile in diameter — which is larger than about 97% of asteroids — will zoom past Earth on March 21 at 11:02 a.m. ET
