"Back Home Again in Indiana" is a song composed by James F. Hanley with lyrics by Ballard MacDonald that was published in 1917. The song borrowed heavily from Dresser's song "On the Banks of the Wabash", both lyrically and musically.
Although it is not the state song of Indiana, "Back Home Again in Indiana" is perhaps the best-known song that pays tribute to the Hoosier state.

I have always been a wanderer
Over land and sea
Yet a moonbeam on the water
Casts a spell over me
A vision fair I see
Again I seem to be

(Chorus)
Back home again in Indiana
And it seems that I can see
The gleaming candlelight, still burning bright
Through the sycamores for me
The new-mowed hay sends all its fragrance
Through the fields I used to roam
When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash
How I long for my Indiana home

Fancy paints on memory's canvas
Scenes that we hold dear
We recall them in days after
Clearly they appear
And often times I see
A scene that's dear to me

(Chorus)
