The Get Verified Scam

A Cyber Documentary of the most prolific online dating scam - Get Verified. The scam is designed to charge your credit card, even though the sites assert that they are "free". This video shows exactly how the scam operates, and how risky it is to "Get Verified".

Romance scams get the headlines, because they have large dollar amounts. This seemingly petty catfish scam, is pervasive, with thousands of people being scammed.

I first found this scam, when an employee of mine was tricked with fake "catfishing" ads on Craigs list. Since the personal dating pages on craigslist and backpage have been taken down, these scammers have moved to sites like skipthegames, and megapersonals, which are off shore, and apps like Tinder and Grindr, However, scammers are everywhere.

It is a global scam, of many mini crime rings. Often your 'date' is in Bangladesh or the Philippines, and connected thru middleman web sites, anonymously owned in Panama, that connects to shell companies across the globe.

Known as a subscription trap or subscription scam, the result for the scam victim is that they are signed up to low-quality dating sites, and/or adult sites, that have costly monthly subscriptions.
