Spartan Paratroopers compete in Arctic Winter Games

Paratroopers from 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, “Spartan Brigade,” competed in the Arctic Winter Games at Black Rapids Training Site, Alaska, March 4-5. Team Hatchet, 1-501st PIR, won, while Team Apache, 1-501st PIR, took third place in a competition that included skijoring, cold weather casualty care, biathlon marksmanship, and cross-country skiing challenges. The Spartan Brigade is the only airborne infantry brigade combat team in the Arctic and Pacific theaters, providing the combatant commander with the unique capability to project an expeditionary force by air.
