The London Marathon 2020 event saw the world record holder, Eluid Kipchoge, lose for the first time in many years. Did he? PLEASE SUB, COMMENT, SHARE, LIKE AND HIT THE 🛎 THANKS!!!!

The weather conditions were certainly not perfect but this is an area of our racing that we simply cannot control. Of course, you can always train in inclement weather and often times we have to in order to get the workout in. How you handle yourself is going to dictate how successful you are. The 2020 London Marathon was the first time in its history where it was an elite only event. The runners ran on a 19-lap course with few spectators and there were high winds and rains throughout the race.

Brigit Kogei (female world record holder at 2.14.01) won the London Marathon in 2020 in a time of 2:18:58 with Shura Kitata winning the mens race with a time of 2:05:41. Eluid Kipchoge discussed in post race interviews that he has issues with a blockage in his ear during the race. He also stated that was not taking his drinks which may have caused the falling off of his pace in the latter stages of the race.

We all lose at times in our races and even the best runners have DNF's or poor performances (to their standards). It took me 15 years to run a 2:19:35 PR for the marathon. Kipchoge running a 2:06:49 is clearly not a poor performance considering the conditions those athletes were racing in. Of course, we are talking about Kipchoge here, the best marathoner in the world and the only man in history to have ever broke the sub 2 hour marathon.

What were your thoughts of the race? Let me know in the comments below.
