An Alleged Mail In Voting Scandal In New York Has Led To The Indictment Of Two City Councilmen. According To The Attorney General, Alex Mendez And Michael Jackson - Both Democrats - Were Indicted For Allegedly Interfering With A Special Election Last Year.

That Election Was Held By Mail In Ballots Only Because Of Covid-19.

Jackson Held The Position Of Vice-president On The City Council With Mendez Winning The Special Election Back In May But Allegations Of Voter Fraud Started Circulating.

After U.S. Postal Service Inspectors Said They Found Hundreds Of Mail-in Ballots In A Single Mailbox In Patterson, Numerous Other Ballots Were Found In A Mailbox In A Nearby City. That's When The State's Attorney General’s Office Started An Investigation .

Among Other Issues That Were Found, The Ballots, Which Were Collected And Delivered To County Officials By Both Men - Which Is Illegal - Lacked Identification Information.

The Men Are Also Accused Of Harvesting Ballots And Mailing Them In Bundled Packs.

As A Result, The County Board Of Elections Decided Not To Count 800 Ballots And A Judge Ordered A New Election For Last November.

Despite The Pending Criminal Charges Mendez Won The Election In November.

The Indictments Charge Mendez And Jackson With Election Fraud, Unauthorized Possession Of Ballots And Falsifying Or Tampering With Public Records.
