The COVID-19 vaccine arrives at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Feb. 25, 2021. Service members with the Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Distribution, and Air Transportation Operations Center oversee the transfer of medical equipment and 600 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to EMF. The vaccine must be quickly transported to maintain the proper temperature at minus 25 C to minus 15 C in order to be kept in a frozen state. Medical personnel will administer the doses within 48 hours of the shipment's arrival.
