In September, Florida Governor Ron Desantis lifted restrictions on restaurants and other businesses in a move to reopen the state’s economy despite the country facing a second wave of the pandemic. All schools in Florida were also reopened with a full array of services since last fall. At the beginning, it was considered as a controversial move because many teachers and families feared a spike in COVID-19 cases with students going back to school in person. Florida is also taking the lead in standing up to China. In a press conference on Monday morning, Governor Ron DeSantis unveiled legislation plans to address the growing concerns over the Chinese Communist Party’s infiltration and other foreign influence in research, education and public affairs in the state of Florida.

On Sunday, Former President Trump told Steve Hilton on Fox that he was concerned days before the January 6 riot at the Capitol about the size of the crowd that was expected. As a result, he asked to deploy 10,000 National Guard troops. The request was rejected because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers did not like the optics of having troops at the Capitol.
