A Group Of Student Athletes In California Are Suing The Governor Over The Ban On Indoor High School Sports.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) Has Mandated That High School Athletes Cannot Take Part In Indoor Sports Unless A County Reaches The Yellow Tier - Which Is Minimal Risk -For Covid.

The 5 Athletes That Are Suing Are Members Of The Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, And Cheerleading Teams And Filed For A Temporary Restraining Order.

The Lawsuit - Which Was Filed In Orange County - Argues That Under The 14Th Amendment High School Sports Have Been Treated Unfairly Because Both Professional And College Athletes In The State Are Allowed To Play Indoor Sports.

The Athletes And Their Families, who Are Part Of The Growing 'let Them Play' Movement, Say That They Are Missing Out On College Opportunities Because Of The Ban And That There Is No Medical Evidence To Justify Banning Indoor Sports.

California Recently Updated Guidelines For Outdoor High-contact Sports Out Of A Concern For Mental Health. Outdoor Sports Are Now Allowed In Purple And Red Tiered Counties - That Have 14 Or Less Cases Per 100,000 People.
