Black History Month With The Harlem Hellfighters

U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Andrew H. Lampkins, senior enlisted advisor to the commander of the 369th Sustainment Brigade, walked through the renovated building, and showcased the architecture, history, and artifacts at the 369th Regiment Armory – historical landmark number 1390 in New York City, during African American History month in New York, February 11, 2021. The official traditional designation of Harlem Hellfighters was given to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company 369th Sustainment Brigade on September 21, 2021 and approved by The Army Center of Military History. The Harlem Hellfighters were a predominantly African American infantry unit in World War I which spent more time in combat than any other American unit. Despite their courage, sacrifice and dedication to their nation, they returned home to face racism and segregation from their fellow countrymen. Better known as Black History Month, African American History Month honors the contributions of African Americans to U.S. History.
