The prophet Isaias says, “Get thee up upon a high mountain, thou that bringest good tidings to Sion: lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God: Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and His arm shall rule: Behold His reward is with Him and his work is before Him.” Get thee up a high mountain… This was done in today’s Gospel. It is Thabor. They are seeing Sion… the first Mass, the place where the unbloodly sacrifice was first offered before bloody sacrifice of Calvary took place next door. Here is where life, strength, courage and reward is found. Lent is, as it were, a mountain in which to climb and get a fresh view of this place of Exodus on Good Friday. Let’s keep climbing until we arrive there at our exit from this world.
