Achen vs the Two Spies in Joshua 6

In Joshua 6, Achen violated the rules of engagement with Jericho and his whole family was destroyed for it. Why was it acceptable for Joshua and the two spies to violate those same rules? Hint: "Whatever you ask in my name, this will I do." See John 14:12-15 and James 4:1-3.
