Roland, a member of the MN Chippewa Tribe, born and raised on the Rez, began speaking out against "identity politics" back in the late 1990's. He also spoke out against the welfare system and tribal government corruption.

Although the Montana "Human Rights" Network called him an "anti-Indian Native American," he was speaking up because he loved his family and knew what was going on - how they were being hurt by liberal politics and the tribal government. Read his story, "Dying in Indian Country."
