Dr. Oliver B. Greene (1915-1976) explains in this episode of "The Gospel Hour" why water baptism itself cannot save a sinner. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a picture of what happens in salvation when we die with Christ and are raised to new life in Him. In the Christian life we die to ourselves so that Christ can live in and through us.
