I want to talk to you today about those who are asleep?

1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

I have a lot of people in my life friends and relatives alike who are spiritually asleep. Several things take place when you are sleeping,

1. When you are asleep you have no cares, you are not worried about anything. Peace and safety, not a care in the world?

I know people who are clueless about the world they live in? They have absolutely no knowledge of the spiritual world going on all around them?

They don’t have any clue as to the fact that they will die one day and on that day they will have no power and they will be subject to the demonic host.

2. When you are sleeping you are extremely vulnerable?

Paul said that that day, IE. death, rapture, would overtake them as a thief.

When you sleep you are vulnerable to attack because you have no idea of who is attacking you and how to defend yourself.

Lets take a look at 16 men who were sleeping and it cost them their life.

Act 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Act 12:19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

Even if you don’t believe what I’m saying, you believe what I’m saying.

Even if you reject the truth of what I’m saying there is rooted within you a conviction you can suppress with your mind but it is within your heart none the less. Which is telling you these things are so.
