210224-N-DL524-1001 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Feb. 24, 2021) Sailors assigned to the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and Sailors on Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) join forces in the ship's response to COVID-19 since November 2020. The response efforts include the formation of support teams aboard the ship and ashore on CFAY and a large-scale vaccination of the base population. Medical personnel and strategic forces were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
