The Polar Vortex dropped down into Texas today, bringing single digit temperatures overnight and wind-chill temps below zero. It also brought icy conditions and later dropped up to 6 inches of snow across the city. These conditions might be normal for up north, but for Central Texas, it caused massive disruptions to the power grid all across the state, plus accidents everywhere due to road conditions.

On Monday, February 15, 2021, we launched a drone in the Great Northwest HOA Subdivision a few hundred feet into the air and took a look around, This short video is the result of that flight. Outside temps were 16 degrees (F) with wind-chill of 8 degrees at the time of the flight. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone never hesitated a bit to fly, but the battery life (length of flight) was limited by the cold weather.

Internet conditions were very spotty due to power outages, including cellular service. It took me over 24 hours just to upload this 3gb file (recorded in 4K) to YouTube due to the rolling blackouts. We were getting 3-5 minutes up time per hour in the beginning, followed by 14 hours of no power. As we're uploading this, the temperature in the house had dropped to 44 degrees before the power came on an hour ago.
