Turn Bandsaw into a Sawmill and Logs into Dimensional Lumber
Impressive bandsaw sled made with plywood, miter tracks, and a few miscellaneous parts that can be safely used to mill logs into dimensional lumber.
Parts list:
4' x 4' plywood (go to the defective section of the lumber are to find scarp pieces)
5/16 stainless steel bolts (I cut the heads off and used a grinder to make a sharp point at the end to grab into the log) (quantity 4 to 8 if you are planning to mill large logs)
24" miter tracks (quantity 2)
bar knobs (quantity 6)
grab nuts (quantity 4 to 8)
I purchased the last three items on eBay...Amazon works too.
If you pause the video along the way you can get some good shots of how I constructed the bandsaw sled. It was not a hard project to do. This makes for a very useful tool that can add lumber into your projects that you would otherwise throw away or burn in the fireplace.
