Desert Southwest Trip - Day 4 - Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon

Filmed 11/23/2020 - Happy 7th Birthday, Danielle! We started the morning in Henderson, NV after a deep sleep. The day at Death Valley wore us out! We stopped for a scenic view at Lake Mead, then spent a little time at the great Hoover Dam. The drive would be 4 hours to the Grand Canyon from the Las Vegas area, but I made sure we made haste because I wanted to make sure we had plenty of daylight to see the canyon for at least 2 hours. The scenery was incredible because of the changing light in the afternoon and evening. It started off overcast over the canyon, which added to the mystique, but providentially, the sun peaked out of the clouds at sunset, creating a stunning scene of red and orange against the canyon walls. We opened our bottle containing air from the bottom of Death Valley at 7000ft on the South Rim. We drove to Flagstaff in the dark and stayed the night. It snowed in Flagstaff at 10:00pm that evening.
