Toddler Distraction Technique

The best way to avoid a toddler meltdown is to avoid situations that are likely to trigger them but once your little one is already triggered, then a distraction is your next best option - and that can be with just about anything. A hair scrunchie, sunglasses, zipper - really anything that isn't sharp or dangerous. The more novel the item, the better. Remember, almost everything is new to your child so the most ordinary thing you have on hand, can be a treasure trove of stimulation for him/her. The best part is, their attention span allows them to forget what they were thinking about moments ago, as long as it's out of sight.
