When you have a major meltdown in your classroom, the best practice at the time would be a room clear. This is where you remove the other students to a safe area, to have the emergency crisis staff de-escalate the student in crisis. Always remember this is not the intervention to change this behavior, but this is a recommended intervention at the time of crisis. It is best practice to have a staff meeting if this crisis behavior is occurring often. It may be time to provide more intervention to this problem, or you may need to get consent for an FBA/BIP. Data is very important in this situation, and you need to consult with your districts behavior specialist or school psychologist.
